You can help people in Maban move on with their lives
Maban is calm again after a bout of violence in August. Although not all team members have been allowed back, JRS has restarted its activities in Maban and is eager to do more for both the host community and Sudanese refugees. We are offering education to restore a sense of normalcy and hope, psychosocial support to help people to heal and reconcile, and sports activities to occupy young people and to protect them from recruitment in armed groups. To do all this, we need your help. The people here need it too.
Here's what you can do:
- 20 euro/ 25 US dollars pays for a school kit that will allow a child to attend primary school for a year.
- 60 euro/ 75 US dollars pays for a 12-week course in basic English literacy, a huge need among a population, 80% of which is estimated to be illiterate.
- 120 euro/ 150 US dollars covers one month of training in reconciliation and peace-building for two local leaders that is aimed at addressing conflict in the community.
- 1,190 euro/ 1,500 US dollars pays for one big set of sports materials for young people in one zone of the refugee camp. They will get two footballs, two volleyballs and football and volleyball equipment (two sets each) including nets and goalposts.
